The turn of Nord Stream 2 to Kaliningrad would help make the region energy independent, thereby reducing gas prices. Thus, a gas hub will be created in the region, available for use throughout Europe. This was stated in an interview with Business FM Kaliningrad by Vadim Petrov, co-chairman of the Russian Environmental Chamber, RBC reports.

In his opinion, Europe will have a growing need for gas consumption due to climate instability.

“Given the nervousness of the climate and the increase in the number of natural hazards such as frosts, ice storms and others, which are steadily increasing in Europe from year to year, it is obvious that the demand for gas will grow steadily and for a long time,” he said.
