Birch trees in the Russian capital have entered the active flowering phase, characterized by high pollen concentrations in the air. This tree is considered the main culprit of seasonal allergies. This was reported by the specialists of the Moscow Department of Nature Management.
"The duration of birch pollen emission is 20 days on average. The intensity of its pollen emission strongly depends on weather conditions - strong wind and precipitation reduce the amount of allergens in the air.
Despite the fact that birch trees seem to be found everywhere in the city, their total share in the green fund of Moscow does not exceed 10%," - the message on the website of the department says.
According to data from the GPEU "Mosecomonitoring", birch trees are most often found in the Izmailovo, Sokolniki and Filevsky Park districts, as well as in the Kuzminki-Lyublino and Tsaritsyno parks.
To alleviate the manifestations of pollinosis, specialists recommend that allergy sufferers reduce their time outdoors and shorten walks during the peak flowering period. Following birch, another allergen - maple - is expected to bloom.
