Airbnb banned parties in tourist homes due to COVID-19

Online short-term rental service Airbnb announced a ban on holding any parties or events in tourist homes rented through the platform and limiting their capacity to 16 people.

Until further notice, the ban applies to all bookings made since August 20, the company said in a statement.

It explains that a comprehensive ban on parties and events is in the public health interest in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, when "some decided to move what they were doing in bars and discos to homes sometimes rented through our platform."

Airbnb already created an expert group designed to quickly respond to problems and immediately take action against users who do not comply with the new rules regarding parties.
