Vice-President of the Russian Union of Travel Industry (PCT) Dmitry Gorin said that independent tourists increasingly began to resort to the help of tour operators in organizing travel. This summer, about 5-6 million tourists will go on vacation abroad through travel companies, and 15-16 million will go on trips around Russia.
In general, recently the share of organized tourists in foreign destinations has grown to 80%, and in some - up to 90%. Previously, only 60% of travelers went abroad with the help of travel agents and tour operators. In addition, the number of package tours in Russia is also growing. Ten years ago they were no more than 10% of the total, and now - 25%.
At the moment, such destinations as Turkey, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Thailand, Sri Lanka and Cuba are popular with tourists. In the domestic market, Krasnodar Territory, Tatarstan, the North Caucasus, Karelia, St. Petersburg show steady growth.
Tourists often turn to travel agents, as they experience difficulties due to the lack of international payment systems and the unavailability of international booking services. And by buying a ready-made tour in Russia, they can save a lot and not waste time on solving organizational issues.
